Someday you’ll read about this

It seemed like a good idea at the time

On Saturday we had major house cleaning at the lodge.  Major house cleaning.  I New Orleansed the shit out of the basement, in true NOLA style.  I showed up half-hungover and half-asleep, assessed the water damage in the ritual closet in the basement, and gutted it.  We took everything out of there, stashed it neatly away elsewhere, and I took a hammer to the soft sheet-rocked walls.  Stirred up dust, ripped out mold, was surprised at unevenly placed studs, and pulled rusty nails out of warped wood.  I even found a Coca-Cola can from about 50 years ago strategically placed between the wallboard.  Then we went to Lowe’s, bought all the appropriate supplies, and drove Michigan Ave very slowly back to Albion with 8 sheets of greenboard sticking out the back.

And I’ll be damned if I don’t do a perfect job of reinstalling those walls in the ritual closet.  Anyway, that leaves me with a couple walls to build before these last two weeks are up and I head to New Orleans.  It’s a good thing I’ve got a drywall T-square in my trunk, a Rotozip in my backseat, a utility knife in my bag, and a power drill under my desk.  Leave it to me to spend a Saturday nursing a hangover with gypsum dust and power tools.

It’s time to start packing up and moving out, peacing out of Albion.  My car’s still packed from my last trip to NOLA; now all I have to do is get a storage unit in ‘bion and stow away my stuff for the summer.   Hopefully now my long-overdue speeding ticket from Indiana is paid off.  I’d really hate to be thrown in jail.

[lamest entry ever, but i'm sure you wanted to know that i ripped out the walls of the ritual closet!]
